So what’s the deal with all this deception! Seriously Think about this. You look at a bottle of say Dole grape juice. It says 100% Juice all over the bottle. Okay cool, but wait look at the “contains” section… shouldn’t that say just “grape juice” and nothing more?? It doesn’t. It says grape juice from concentrate, water and juice concentrates, “natural flavors”, “malic acid”, “ascorbic acid”. That doesn’t seem much like 100% juice to me.
Do I just not understand how a percentage works? Are they saying that this bottle is a special 120% bottle or something? Now to clarify something else. Natural Flavors aren’t at all what they sound like. In fact the term “natural flavors” covers a wide variety of things. The technical definition by law is:
“The term natural flavor or natural flavoring means the essential oil, oleoresin, essence or extractive, protein hydrolysate, distillate, or any product of roasting, heating or enzymolysis, which contains the flavoring constituents derived from a spice, fruit or fruit juice, vegetable or vegetable juice, edible yeast, herb, bark, bud, root, leaf or similar plant material, meat, seafood, poultry, eggs, dairy products, or fermentation products thereof, whose significant function in food is flavoring rather than nutritional.”
Which is basically anything really. So my point is how are they allowed to say its 100% juice when it is obviously not 100% juice??
